Randolph-Macon College’s Decision to Add Men’s Volleyball

In today’s dynamic college sports industry environment, revenue generation drives most decisions, there is clearly stress between institutional mission and athletic departments, and where Title IX compliance must be considered when athletic directors try and balance their sports portfolio. This study reveals how and why one D-III school would add a men’s volleyball team. Based on interviews, topics including the financial implications, recruiting, competition, and the process will be explored.
